Speculation grows that Roma midfielder is set for Stamford Bridge.
Roma have fueled speculation that Daniele De Rossi could be set for an £11million switch to Chelsea, after the midfielder was left out of their latest pre-season squad.
According to the Independent, De Rossi is set to issue a statement later this week to clarify his future, with it seeming increasingly likely that the 30-year-old will become Jose Mourinho’s latest summer signing.
The Blues have been keen to recruit a new defensive midfielder for much of this transfer window, and have seen attempts to land the likes of Sami Khedira and Xabi Alonso end in failure, while elsewhere their main focus seems to be on the signing of want-away Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
De Rossi has been linked with moves to the Premier League before, but the Italy international, who has so far spent his entire career with his boyhood club, has previously rejected approaches from both Manchester United and Manchester City.
However, he could now be set for a move to England with Chelsea, as it seems he has grown increasingly unsettled with the Rome club.
Rudi Garcia’s side are also facing bids for other key players in Pablo Osvaldo and Erik Lamela, with the latter lined up as a sensational £30million target for Tottenham.
