The Liverpool great thinks that Willian would add quality to Liverpool’s squad in wide areas while also being dangerous in front of goal.
Liverpool legend Jan Molby thinks Brendan Rodgers should do everything he can to secure the signing of Anzhi Makhachkala winger Willian, the Daily Star reports.
Willian is set to leave Anzhi after the Russian club made all of their players available for transfer, with the club struggling financially after their owner withdrew his funding.
Liverpool have been linked with a £30 million move for the Brazilian and Molby thinks the winger is exactly the sort of player that the Reds need to sign before the transfer window closes.
He said: “Liverpool’s squad looks a little light in wide areas and, in particular, in terms of goals.
“Willian is on the Reds’ shopping list and I think that would be a decent move. He will be expensive, and his wages will be hefty but he’s a player with pace, quality and goals in him. There aren’t many of those around at the moment.”
The winger has admitted that he would like the opportunity to play for Liverpool and hopes that the Reds submit a bid for him soon.
However, several other Premier League clubs are also thought to be interested in signing the Brazilian, including Manchester United and Tottenham.
The Reds may need to conclude a deal for Willian before their Premier League rivals enter the race.
