Anzhi Makhachkala star close to Stamford Bridge move.
The agent of Anzhi Makhachkala striker Samuel Eto’o is reportedly in London to hold talks over a possible transfer to Chelsea, according to the Daily Star.
The Cameroon international has recently emerged as a top target for Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who is being forced to consider alternatives as time runs out for him to sign Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.
Rooney is still thought to be Mourinho’s main priority, though with United insisting that they will not sell the England international to one of their title rivals, an approach has been made to Russian side Anzhi for Eto’o.
The former Barcelona frontman could be available for as little as £5million as Anzhi plot a major clear-out of the highest earners in their squad, which has also seen star player Willian emerge as a target for Tottenham.
Eto’o himself has spoken of his desire to play under Mourinho again, after the two enjoyed great success together at Inter Milan, winning the treble in the 2009/10 season.
The 32-year-old is also thought to be a target for United, who will look to bring him in if they fail to keep hold of Rooney, though it is understood that his preference is for a move to Chelsea.
