Two-year deal on the cards for veteran striker.
Chelsea are set to open another round of talks with Anzhi Makhachkala striker Samuel Eto’o over the next 24 hours, with Goal.com reporting that they will look to tempt the 32-year-old to Stamford Bridge with a two-year contract.
The Cameroon striker could become Chelsea’s fifth major signing of the summer, following the likes of Andre Schurrle, Mark Schwarzer, Marco van Ginkel and former Anzhi team-mate Willian to the west London club.
Eto’o looks to be one of many players set to depart the Russian club, who have recently been forced into transfer listing their highest earners after falling into financial difficulties.
The former Barcelona striker has also been linked with Manchester United and Inter Milan, but has expressed his desire to be reunited with his old boss Jose Mourinho.
His signing looks to be Chelsea’s best alternative to Wayne Rooney, who looks to have made the decision to stay at Manchester United after being linked with the Blues for much of the summer.
