Liverpool look set to complete the signings of Tiago Ilori from Sporting Lisbon and Mamadou Sakho from Paris St Germain within the next 48 hours, BBC Sport reports.

Both players have been long term targets for Liverpool and are set to arrive on Merseyside for medicals within the next 24 hours.

Sakho has won 13 caps for the French national team and played a key role in Paris St Germain’s title winning side last season.

However, the French club recently signed Brazilian centre back Marquinhos and the 19 year old has since taken Sakho’s place in the PSG starting line-up.

Ilori has represented Portugal at Under 20 level and could be a long term replacement for the recently retired Jamie Carragher if he does complete his move to Anfield.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been desperate to sign some defensive re-enforcements following the injuries that Kolo Toure and Aly Cissoko sustained in the Reds 4-2 victory over Notts County on Tuesday night.

Rodgers is also interested signing an attacking player before the transfer window closes on Monday and is reportedly keen on bringing Chelsea’s winger Victor Moses to Anfield on loan.
