Stamford Bridge side target AS Monaco wide-man.
Chelsea are reportedly keen on AS Monaco winger Lucas Ocampos according to Italian source CalcioMercato, speculation that may well lead many to assume that Juan Mata’s future at Stamford Bridge is very much in doubt.
Ocampos moved to Monaco last July and played a key role in helping Claudio Ranieri side’s promotion back to Ligue 1 but a massive summer spending spree may well have left the Argentine considering his options, though the 19 year old has started all five of the club’s league fixtures this term.
Jose Mourinho’s decision to bring in Brazilian Willian combined with the fact that Mata has rarely been used as a first team starter this term will certainly leave the Spanish international wondering what part he has to play in the Blues long term set-up and a further signing in his position may be the final nail in his Stamford Bridge coffin.
Ocampos is on the verge of a first national team cap and is a player with a bright future and a lot could depend on whether the youngster feels that his ambitions can be met by a up and coming AS Monaco side that is clearly benefiting from the cash injection handed to Ranieri by Russian billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev.
