Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will put pressure on his club to work hard to bring in a top quality striker in the January transfer window with Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski being top of his wish-list according to the Daily Mail.

Mourinho was reportedly unhappy at the lack of big name striker signings during the summer transfer window, with the only capture in that regard coming in the form of veteran Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o and wide attacker Andre Schurrle who is unlikely to amass a prolific total.

Chelsea failed to sign Man United star Wayne Rooney, having seen bids for the England man turned down by the Old Trafford side.

The Blues will look to lure Lewandowski to West London with the Polish international into the final year of his Dortmund contract, which could lead Jurgen Klopp’s side considering offers for the 25 year old in January given that the consistent marksman will be able to leave the club on a free transfer in less than a year.

Dortmund may also feel that selling Lewandowski to Chelsea is preferable to seeing the striker join domestic rivals Bayern Munich, who are known to be interested.

Robert Lewandowski has netted 71 goals in his last 103 appearances for the Westfalenstadion side.
