Brad Guzan (Aston Villa)
Some highly impressive displays since being made number one for Aston Villa last season have elevated American goalkeeper Brad Guzan to among the best in the Premier League. The former Chivas shot-stopper joined the club initially as a backup player, arriving for a bargain price of £600,000, but is now worth a great deal more after displacing veteran ‘keeper Shay Given as first choice for Paul Lambert’s side. Without Guzan’s fine saves last season, Villa could well have found themselves relegated, and the 29-year-old is certainly up there now with several other great ‘keepers from the USA to play in England.
