Stamford Bridge side want French international
Chelsea are reportedly on alert following recent developments at Primeira Liga side FC Porto.
The Metro claim that FC Porto are ready to consider offers for highly rated French international Eliaqium Managala, a long term target of a number of Europe’s ‘Elite’.
Jose Mourinho is known to be an admirer of the rock solid defender, who’s form helped FC Porto to the title last season, during which the Estádio do Dragão side conceded just 14 goals in 30 domestic league fixtures.
Chelsea saw an offer for Mangala rejected over the summer but are readying a fresh offer for the former Standard Liege man.
FC Porto president Pinto da Costa has courted interest in Mangala, stating;
‘I see his name linked with clubs all the time in the media,’
‘He has a release clause and clubs know that, but if a bid arrives that attracts us then we could sell.’
That release clause is set at around £50m but this source claims that offers of around £30m could be considered.
Mangala is certainly a hot prospect but one would imagine that Mourinho would only look to make an offer if he were to sell one or more of his current list of central defensive options with the Blues boss currently being able to call upon John Terry, Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Branislav Ivanovic.
