Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg would be keen to sign unsettled Chelsea midfield player Kevin De Bruyne when the winter transfer window opens again if the west London club do actually decide to part company with the Belgium, according to reports in German sports daily Kicker.

The 22-year-old was recalled to Stamford Bridge last summer by returning Blues head coach Jose Mourinho after spending the previous campaign out on loan with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

However, the self-styled Special One was understood to be keen to finally give De Bruyne his opportunity in the Chelsea first team after his arrival at the Premier League giants from Belgium side Genk in January 2012 for a fee of £7 million.

But things have not quite worked out according to plan for De Bruyne, who despite featuring in seven matches in total in all competitions for the west Londoners so far in this campaign, has failed to fully convince the Portuguese that he is worth a place in his starting lineup.

And so now it is thought highly likely that Mou will decide to offload the player come the turn of the year, with a return once again to the Bundesliga believed to be his most likely next port of call as Wolfsburg eye a move for De Bruyne in January.
