Blues have been scouting the Senegalese in recent weeks.
Premier League giants Chelsea are set to go head to head with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund in the battle to land coveted Nantes defender Papy Djilobodji in the January transfer window, according to reports in the Daily Star on Sunday.

The in-demand Senegal international is currently enjoying an outstanding campaign at the heart of the Ligue 1 club’s back four, with Nantes having so far let in just the 17 goals in 19 matches in the league this season, defensive solidity that has helped propel the French club up the standings and within shot of a place in Europe come next May.
And as a result of Djilobodji’s eye-catching displays at the back for Nantes, it is understood that the likes of the west London club, as well as last season’s Uefa Champions League runners-up Dortmund, have both been keeping close tabs on the 25-year-old’s performances in recent weeks with a view to making a possible bid for the player at some point during this month.
Djilobodji, who has a contract with Nantes that currently runs until June 30 2016, has played in 18 Ligue 1 contests in this campaign, with the central defender even managing to hit the back of the net on three occasions during that time.
