The diminutive Spain international is set to complete his club-record £37m move to Old Trafford on Thursday after undergoing a medical at the Red Devils’ Carrington training complex and discussing personal terms on a potential four-year £150,000-per-week deal.

And after the transfer has been finalised, Blues head coach Jose Mourinho then plans on using some of the cash from Mata’s switch to the Theatre of Dreams to invest in Sociedad’s highly rated former France Under-21 international.

The Frenchman has been with the Basque outfit for his whole career to date, during which time the 22-year-old has managed to find the back of the net on an impressive 46 occasions in total in his 177 matches in all competitions for Sociedad, including 42 strikes in 161 La Liga outings.

Griezmann, who has also been closely monitored by Premier League leaders Arsenal of late, has a contract at the Anoeta that lasts until 2016 and is valued at a whopping £24 by the Spaniards.
