The 20-year-old has already undertaken several loan spells away from Stamford Bridge during his fledgling career and the switch to the DW Stadium signifies his fourth stint away after featuring for the likes of Swansea, Middlesbrough and Watford.
He will now look to get more first team football under his belt after looking no closer to breaking into the Chelsea first team, and will look to impress on the second step of the ladder between now and the end of the campaign.
“Josh McEachran has today joined Wigan Athletic on loan until the end of the season,” a statement made by Chelsea read.
“The move means the 20-year-old continues to gain first-team experience in the Championship, having spent the first half of the season at Watford.”
McEachran will join the Wigan side sitting 11th in the Championship table, and will be hoping to help the side make a late push into the playoff positions to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
