The former France Under-21 international has been at Stamford Bridge for his entire career to date, with the 22-year-old arriving at the Blues five years ago with a huge reputation from his youth career back home in France.
However, it is fair to say that so far, Kakuta has generally failed to live up to that hype, with the wide man having embarked on four loan spells prior to his switch to the Italian capital on Friday.
Kakuta has spent time at Fulham, Dijon, Bolton Wanderers and then more recently with Eredivisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem, where the Frenchman was shipped out to on a season-long loan spell in August 2012.
Meanwhile, for the west Londoners, Kakuta has managed to feature in a total of just 16 matches in all competitions since 2009, during which time the winger has contributed two assists to the team cause, and in the Premier League Kakuta has appeared in only six contests.
And with a current contract at Chelsea that still runs until June 30 2015, it very much remains to be seen what happens to Kakuta when this loan switch to Lazio comes to an end this summer.
