Inter Milan are open to the possibility of veteran star Javier Zanetti moving to Chelsea according to Goal.com.
Nerazzurri president Erick Thohir will allow club captain Zanetti to leave the San Siro if he wishes to pursue a move to reunite with his former boss Jose Mourinho at the Stamford Bridge club, though such a move would be a real shock.
Mourinho has apparently made an informal move for the 40 year old Argentine international and wants to bring in Zanetti on an initial deal as a player before becoming part of his Blues coaching staff.
Zanetti is into his 19th season at Inter Milan and has made a total of 851 appearances for the club and does still perhaps a season or two in the tank though has made just five Serie A appearances thus far this term.
Given that Chelsea boss Mourinho is looking to the future, with veteran trio John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole all out of contract at the end of the season, a move to bring in Zanetti would be odd to say the least.
Zanetti may well be tempted by a new challenge at the tail end of his illustrious career.
