White Hart Lane side chase Villa Park ace.
A lack of goals may well derail Tottenham’s push for a top four and to that end the White Hart Lane side have earmarked a move for Aston Villa ace Christian Benteke according to the Sunday Mirror.
With summer signings Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado failing to coming anywhere near justifying the sums spend to acquire their services Tim Sherwood has now set his sights on fresh striking talent.
Benteke had an outstanding first season at Villa Park, netting 23 goals in all competitions, and though the Belgian hasn’t hit the same heights this term he has still scored a healthy 11 goals in 27 starts.
The powerful 23 year old may well be tempted by a move to the North London club as he may feel he deserves to be playing for a club in the upper echelons of the Premier League.
Aston Villa would be loathed to lose Benteke and would demand to make a hefty profit on the £7m they paid Racing Genk for the youngster.
