Torres agent claims Stamford Bridge boss has made up his mind between Cech and Courtois.
The agent of Chelsea striker Fernando Torres says Blues boss Jose Mourinho has already decided who his number one goalkeeper will be next season.
Petr Cech has been the club’s number one since arriving from Rennes in 2004 but Chelsea’s on-loan youngster Thibaut Courtois, 21, has established himself as one of the best ‘keepers in the world in the past three seasons at Atletico Madrid.
The Spaniards would dearly love to keep the Belgium international permanently but Courtois looks set to return to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Belgian has made it clear he will not deputise for Cech, however, leaving Mourinho with a dilemma.
Torres’ agent, Antonio Sanz, says the Portuguese has already made up his mind to make Courtois his number one, claiming the head-coach has been unimpressed with Cech’s form this season.
“The coach, very displeased with the performances of the Czech goalkeeper in the key matches of the season, has made it clear to the Chelsea directors that it is a moment for change,” Sanz is quoted as saying by Bleacher Report.
“That they cannot neglect the best goalkeeper. That the time to prove his worth is over for Courtois. That he must be Chelsea’s starting keeper in the 2014-15 season. And he made that known to him. A starting place is guaranteed.”
