Chelsea Star Eden Hazard Set To Miss Premier League Showdown With Liverpool

Belgium should return for Atleti clash though.

Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard is unlikely to feature for the west London club in their huge Premier League showdown against rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon after suffering a setback in his recovery from a calf injury, according to reports in the Independent.

The brilliant Belgium international first suffered the problem during the second leg of the west London club’s Uefa Champions League semi-final against Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain a Stamford Bridge last month.

However, initially it was expected that the 23-year-old would only be out of action for as little as two weeks, but so far Hazard has been unable to feature for the west Londoners and after the wide man felt some more discomfort in his leg during training earlier this week, Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho has now decided not to risk his star man in the weekend trip to Merseyside.

And as a result Hazard, who did feature on the Blues’ substitute bench in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final with Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon on Tuesday night, although he was not called upon during the goalless draw, is now expected to make his comeback in the return encounter with Atleti on Wednesday evening.
