Los Blancos are said to have already decided to offload their prolific France international when the summer transfer window does finally reopen, with the club believed to be seeking a fee of upwards of £40m for the 26-year-0ld.
The reasons that Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to sell Benzema is that the Real supremo wants to bring in yet another Galatico signing up front like he did last year when the Spaniards managed to lure Tottenham Hotspur wide man Gareth Bale to the Santiago Bernabeu for a world-record fee of £85m.
And it is understood that Perez is eyeing up a move for either the Reds’ Uruguay international or City’s Argentina international to complete what would be a star-studded attacking lineup in the Spanish capital next season, although neither player will be easy to lure away from the Premier League.
