The experienced England international’s current deal with the Blues now only runs until the end of June, and with there so far being no sign of his employers at Stamford Bridge offering him a new contract to extend his stay at the club, as things stand now Cole will be available to pick up on a Bosman-style free transfer this summer.

And it is now understood that despite rival interest in the attacking full back’s signature from the likes of both La Liga giants Real Madrid and Major League Soccer franchise the New York Red Bulls, Cole is only interested in finishing his illustrious career in the Premier League next season.

As a result, it is now believed that the Reds will make a swoop for the 33-year-old, with Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers known to currently be on the look out for a new experienced left back to bring to Anfield for next season.
