Spurs have apparently made the powerful Belgian international their number one target ahead of this summer’s transfer window and chairman Daniel Levy will now press ahead with negotiations even though the club are yet to appoint a new manager for the new season.
Chelsea are ready to listen to offers for the 20-year-old, who cost them a reported £20m, but does not seemingly feature in Jose Mourinho’s plans despite two impressive loan spells.
Levy is looking to open talks as soon as possible and will go in with an initial £15m bid.
However, the Blues will be looking for more than that, as both Everton and Atletico Madrid are both heavily interested in signing him themselves.
Lukaku’s agent, Christope Henrotay, has already stated that his client faces an uncertain few months.
“It’s all going to depend on Chelsea. We’ll see together what the best options are,”
“Chelsea need lots of great strikers. And if there are too many, they’ll choose to allow Romelu to leave.”
