Serie A giants Inter Milan are hoping to be able to persuade Chelsea to part company with their misfiring front man Fernando Torres this summer, but the Italians want to take the player on loan first before then signing the attacker on a permanent deal for a knock-down fee at the end of next season, according to reports in the Sun.

The unsettled Spain international has once again endured yet another tough campaign in front of goal for the west London club, with Torres having largely struggled for form and confidence up front at Stamford Bridge.

In total, Torres has so far managed to register just 10 goals and six assists in his 40 matches in all competitions for the Blues, including an equally underwhelming four strikes and five assists in his 27 Premier League outings.

And with Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho having already made it perfectly clear that he intends to offload all his under-performing strikers come the end of the campaign, Torres’s days at the club appear to be numbered at best.

However, whether the Portuguese would be wiling to allow the 30-year-old to move to the San Siro on a season-long loan deal ahead of a possible £10m switch to Inter next summer remains to be seen.
