The experienced Ivory Coast international only moved to Gala from mega-rich Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua in last year’s January transfer window, with Drogba putting pen to paper on a bumper one-and-a-half-year deal with the club worth a staggering 4m euros per season, as well as massive signing-on fee worth the same amount.
However, despite proving a huge hut in Turkey, with Drogba having managed to find the back of the net on 20 occasions in total in just his 53 matches in all competitions for the club, including 15 strikes in his 37 league outings, the 36-year-old has now confirmed on his Instagram page that he has now played his final ever match for the club.
“Dear Fans, dear brothers, dear sisters, since day one of my arrival thanks to you all, I felt at home here in Turkey,” wrote Drogba.
“Sharing, seeing, feeling the passion, sincerity and warm hospitality of My Turkish people is trully unforgettable.”
