Cabella has already been told that he is free to leave his current club this summer after failing to put pen-to-paper on a new deal, and Newcastle had been in pole position to land his signature having been close to doing so during the January transfer window.
However, the Magpies could set to be frustrated n their pursuit as reports in France are hinting that the Blues are lining up an offer for him to link up at Stamford Bridge instead.
The 24-year-old knows his game time would be limited at Chelsea but the opportunity to work with Jose Mourinho is tempting.
Both sides have reportedly already offered Montpellier £7m, but Chelsea have upped their wage offer to £90,000 per week.
A agile and creative attacker who can play on the wing or as a number 10, both Arsenal and Manchester United, along with Marseille, had all previously shown an interest in Cabella.
