A look at 50 players wanted by Premier League clubs this summer.
50. Dejan Lovren (Southampton)
After a highly impressive first season in the Premier League with Southampton, Croatian defender Dejan Lovren is now believed to be a top target for Liverpool, who could make him one of three signings in a sensational raid on the St Mary’s club. With striker Rickie Lambert already signed and Adam Lallana also in their sights, Lovren would be another top class addition for the Reds as they look to bolster their squad for the demands of Champions League football next season. With defence also a weakness for Brendan Rodgers’ side this term, Lovren certainly looks like a player capable of making the team more solid at the back.
49. Fabio Coentrao (Real Madrid)
After nearly sealing a move to Manchester United last summer, Fabio Coentrao remains on the radars of several top Premier League clubs. United are still being linked as admirers of the Portuguese left-back, as are Chelsea and Liverpool. All three clubs are known to be in the market for signings in that position this summer, and Coentrao’s potential availability makes him a realistic target and tempting option given his experience and success at a top club such as Real Madrid.
48. Bafetimbi Gomis (Lyon)
One of the most prolific and consistent strikers in French football for the last few years, Bafetimbi Gomis is set to be available on a free transfer this summer after allowing his contract with Ligue 1 side Lyon to run down. Several Premier League sides have been linked with the 28-year-old in the past, and he is already tipped to have a large number of suitors this summer. Recent reports suggest that newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers have opened talks with the player, and may now be the favourites to land this quality free agent.
47. Rodrigo (Benfica)
Spanish striker Rodrigo is attracting plenty of attention this summer after a prolific season with Portuguese giants Benfica. The 23-year-old scored 18 goals in all competitions as his side won the league and reached the Europa League final. Rodrigo has certainly made considerable strides since failed spells in Real Madrid’s youth team and on loan with Bolton Wanderers back in 2010/11, and has now been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool in recent months, as the Premier League seems an increasingly likely destination for him next season.
46. Bacary Sagna (Arsenal)
After seven years with Arsenal, tough-tackling right-back Bacary Sagna has made the decision to quit the club for a new challenge, and will be available on a free transfer this summer after rejecting offers of a new contract at the Emirates Stadium. The 31-year-old is being widely tipped to stay in England, with champions Manchester City the favourites to snap him up. Manchester United have also shown an interest, as have teams from abroad such as Inter Milan. Sagna will certainly be among the best free agents available on the market this summer, and it could be a major blow for Arsenal fans again if one of their best players does end up leaving for a rival club.
