Mourinho eyes reunion with former star.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is hoping to secure a sensational deal to bring legendary striker Didier Drogba back to Stamford Bridge this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 36-year-old is a free agent this summer after allowing his contract with Turkish giants Galatasaray to run down, but he has still been attracting interest from several top clubs despite his age.
The Ivory Coast international still looks capable of playing at the top level, scoring 14 goals for Galatasaray this season, but it could be a big ask for him to still do the business in the more competitive Premier League.
Drogba scored 157 goals in his first spell at Chelsea, and signed out in style in his final appearance for the club, scoring the winning penalty in his side’s Champions League final penalty shoot-out victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
Although the Blues are thought to be closing in on the £32m signing of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, Mourinho seemingly remains keen on adding more options to his strike force as he is unconvinced by the performances of the likes of Fernando Torres and Demba Ba in that position.
Youngster Romelu Lukaku has also expressed a desire to leave the club, which could see a new-look attacking lineup for Chelsea next season.
