Rodriguez calls on Lallana and Shaw to reject overtures of top clubs.
The likes of Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana have been strongly linked with big money moves to Manchester United and Liverpool respectively, but Rodriguez wants his co-stars to stay put and help the Saints.
Southampton are already reeling from the loss of their manager Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham Hotspur and their ace forward Rickie Lambert to Liverpool, and also fear more high profile exits this summer.
Shaw is believed to have agreed personal terms with United, while 26-year-old Lallana is being relentlessly pursued by the Reds.
“You don’t want to see players going and the team being taken apart,” Rodriguez was quoted by the Daily Star.
“You can sometimes never stop it, it is one of those things so I’m trying not to think about it and hopefully we will have everyone at pre-season.”
Ironically Rodriguez himself has been linked with a move to top English clubs in Liverpool and Arsenal this summer, and time will tell whether any of the Saints’ top stars can resist the urge to play for bigger teams within the Premier League.
