Former Real Madrid star happy in Naples.
The agent of Napoli winger Jose Callejon has played down speculation that his client has received offers from Manchester City and Chelsea, according to the Daily Star.
After enjoying a superb debut season in Serie A following last summer’s move from Real Madrid, Callejon has become hot property in this year’s transfer window, and had been linked with a big move to the Premier League.
The 27-year-old played under Blues manager Jose Mourinho at Madrid and is seemingly a top target for his old manager this summer, but Napoli will be keen not to lose such an important player after just one season.
With 17 goals and eight assists in all competitions for Rafael Benitez’s side, Callejon is a key attacking player for the Serie A side, and his signing last summer helped replace the likes of big names such as Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi, who had previously left the club for big moves to Paris Saint-Germain.
Still, the Spaniard does not look like following these players out of the exit door, with his agent Jose Manuel Quilon stating that there is no truth in rumours of interest from Chelsea and City, and that his client is perfectly happy at the Stadio San Paolo.
“I’ve heard these rumours, but they are just that – rumours,” he said.
“There have been many things written and said, but I will repeat – there has been absolutely nothing.
“Napoli is a great club and gives Jose a lot of confidence.”
