Liverpool had been prepared to fight off interest in Suarez following his superb form in 2013/14 but did fear a seemingly inevitable exit if Barcelona or Real Madrid came calling, with the former Ajax man’s contract having a release clause set to a lower rate for non-Premier League sides, and now feel they have no choice other than to secure the best deal possible under the circumstances.
