Bundesliga forward rejects Roma.Chelsea and Newcastle United target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could still be available this summer after rejecting the chance to sign for Roma, according to Bild.
The Gabon international had a good first season with Dortmund in 2013/14, but looked to be heading for a quick exit from the club after talks of a proposed £20m switch, with the Bundesliga side also interested in signing Roma’s Adem Ljajic.
However, the player’s father has now confirmed that he will be staying put for the time being after rejecting an offer to move to the Stadio Olimpico, which could put Premier League clubs on alert once again.
Aubameyang had been targeted by a number of English sides last summer whilst still at Saint-Etienne, and Chelsea were recently mentioned alongside Newcastle as being his main admirers from the Premier League.
The 25-year-old managed an impressive 16 goals and four assists in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, and can operate out wide as well as upfront, making him a tempting signing at what looks like a reasonable asking price.
Still, it could be that the player himself will favour a stay in Germany for the time being, as he may not want to be moving clubs again so quickly after only joining Dortmund last year.
