City rival Blues for Borussia Dortmund star.
Manchester City look set to join Chelsea in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, according to the Surrey Mirror.
The Premier League champions have been alerted to the potential availability of the talented Gabon international, who could be allowed to leave Dortmund for just £7m this summer.
Chelsea had looked to be in the driving seat to sign the former Saint-Etienne man, who only moved to the Bundesliga in last year’s transfer window, and who has performed well in his short time in Germany.
However, Dortmund are seemingly willing to let him leave as they plan to make some changes to their squad ahead of next season, and Aubameyang has now become high in demand.
City already have plenty of options upfront in their squad, but could look to bring in Aubameyang as an alternative to the likes of Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic, both of whom have been linked with moves away from the Etihad Stadium after struggling to impress on a consistent basis this season.
Newcastle United have also shown an interest in Aubameyang in the past, but may now struggle to land him ahead of such strong competition, with both City and Chelsea likely to be the main contenders for the Premier League title next term.
