Holtby gives Sandro a shoulder to cry on.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby was in a much better mood than teammate Sandro during pre-season training on Wednesday.

Holtby and Sandro had spent the night before watching their respective nations clash in the semi-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Hosts Brazil were outthought and outplayed, and they embarrassingly lost 7-1, having conceded four times in six first-half minutes.

Neither player was selected for the World Cup, but both have been capped at senior international level in the past.

Three-time Germany international Holtby offered Sandro, who has played 17 times for Brazil’s senior team, a shoulder to cry on.

Sandro is known affectionately as the “Beast” by Tottenham supporters, but Holtby has now nicknamed him the “pussycat”, such was his delicate state after Brazil’s humbling loss.
