Liverpool look set to table an £18m bid for Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi as an alternative to Loic Remy, according to the Metro.
The Reds are known to be in the market for new attacking players this summer, but missed out on an £8.5m deal for Queens Park Rangers striker Remy after the Frenchman failed a medical with the Merseyside club.
With Luis Suarez leaving for Barcelona this summer in a £75m move, Brendan Rodgers has plenty of money to spend and gaps to plug upfront, and Lavezzi now appears to be his main target in that position.
PSG are keen to offload players as they look to bring in Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria in a big-money move, but they have to sell before they can buy due to Uefa’s Financial Fair Play restrictions.
This means Lavezzi may be available for a cut-price fee, with Liverpool hopeful of bringing him to Anfield for around £18m to add to their other summer signings so far, with big names such as Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic coming in in the attacking midfield area.
The 29-year-old would make another good signing, having previously starred in Serie A with Napoli despite struggling to hit top form in Ligue 1.
