Journalist tweets about imminent Everton signing.Everton look set to follow up their signing of Romelu Lukaku with a second raid of the summer on Chelsea as they agree a deal in principle to take Christian Atsu on loan, according to the Daily Mirror’s Darren Lewis.
The trusted journalist has tweeted that the Ghanian winger has agreed to move on loan to Goodison Park for the 2014/15 season, with a few personal terms still to be discussed ahead of the finalisation of the deal.
Atsu is yet to play for Chelsea since joining the club from Porto last summer, going out on loan to Dutch side Vitesse immediately after joining the Blues, and he will now be shipped out again this term in a bid to gain first-team experience.
This will go down as another smart move by Everton manager Roberto Martinez in the loan market, with Lukaku’s £28m signing no doubt helped by the fact that the Belgian striker spent last season on a temporary deal with the Toffees.
Gareth Barry has also signed for the club permanently this summer after spending last season on loan with Martinez’s side, and even if Atsu is only at the club this season, he should prove a useful addition for the Merseyside outfit.
