Dani Alves could be on his way to Anfield.
The agent of FC Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has revealed that no talks have taken place with Inter Milan and Liverpool are now the favourites to sign the Brazilian, reports the Independent.
Alves has been strongly linked with a move away from the Nou Camp this summer and whilst Inter and Paris Saint-Germain have been keeping tabs, the 31-year-old’s representative Bibian Weggelaar has dismissed the claims.
“We have not had any contact with Inter,” Weggelaar told Calciomercato.
“They are a big club but we don’t know anything about it. There has been no contact with them so for us it is difficult to comment.”
Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in competition for Glen Johnson, who has grown increasingly unreliable over the past 12 months.
Whilst Jon Flanagan had a solid 2013/14 campaign and Javier Manquillo is expected to be signed on a two-year loan deal from Atletico Madrid this week, Rodgers is keen to bring in some experience as well.
Alves certainly has that in abundance, having won four La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys and two Champions Leagues – among others – since arriving in Catalonia in 2008.
It’s thought the Brazil international would be available for around £5.5m and his attacking style would certainly fit into Rodgers’ possession based tactics at Anfield.
