Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski have paid tribute to their former Germany team-mate Miroslav Klose, who today announced his decision to retire from international football.
The veteran forward was part of this summer’s World Cup-winning squad in Brazil alongside the Gunners pair, and scored two goals in the competition to become the all-time leading scorer in the history of the tournament.
Ozil and Podolski returned to training with Arsenal today along with another international colleague in Per Mertesacker, and they took the time to tweet their thanks to Klose for his fine service to the national team down the years.
