Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has long been referenced at Anfield as a source of inspiration for the club…and their attempts to come back from the brink of extinction.
Klopp restored the club from the verge of bankruptcy to bring regular European football back to the club.
With Liverpool in a similar position when they almost went bust in 2010, the charismatic coach believes the Reds are on course to follow his example, after coming so close last season – despite losing their star player Luis Suarez.
Klopp saw Liverpool’s abilities up close last weekend as the Reds thumped his side in a 4-0 pre-season victory.
“It’s a great club and they did well last year,” he said.
“I saw it. I saw what they can do against us…it was the wrong time to play them.
“If you make the right decisions after you miss you can be stronger.
“Maybe Liverpool this year is the big team in the Premier League. They can be stronger for sure.”
Liverpool chief Brendan Rodgers has often cited Klopp as an inspiration as he hopes to emulate the German side’s calm and clear style.
