Arsenal Pull Out Of Deal To Sign £24m-Rated Midfield Starlet

Gunners end pursuit of promising midfielder.Arsenal have reportedly pulled out of a deal to sign Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvalho as he is too expensive, according to Fichajes.net.

The Gunners have been in the market for a top class addition in that part of the pitch for much of this summer, with Real Madrid star Sami Khedira also being linked with the club in recent times.

However, Carvalho now looks like being one top target that will get away from the north London side, with the 22-year-old proving too expensive for the club as they choose to explore other targets in that position before the end of the transfer window.

Carvalho is valued at around £24m by his club and is one of the most highly rated young players in the world in his position, but Arsenal remain keen not to over-spend on players despite recent big-name arrivals such as Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid last summer and Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona this year.

Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with Carvalho in recent times, and it remains to be seen if the Portuguese international could still be on his way to a bigger club ahead of the new season.
