Swansea City are still awaiting an increased bid from Liverpool for Wilfried Bony, report the Express, although Reds manager Brendan Rodgers remains keen on bringing the Ivory Coast international to Anfield.

Bony has emerged as one of the latest strikers to be interesting Rodgers as he looks to replace last season’s top scorer Luis Suarez, who has joined Barcelona, with French international Loic Remy from Queens Park Rangers already having seen a prospective move to Anfield collapse at the last minute.

Swansea are likely to be extremely keen to keep hold of Bony, with manager Garry Monk having allowed Spaniard Michu to depart the club, joining Serie A outfit Napoli on a season long loan deal.

The report also suggests that Liverpool’s move for the former Vitesse Arnhem striker may be scuppered due to his wage demands, although Liverpool would likely be able to thrash out a deal if they were keen enough to land the player.

With the Reds set to kick-off their 2014/15 Premier League campaign this weekend, however, time is running out for Brendan Rodgers to bring in a striker to take some of the burden off of Daniel Sturridge, particularly if they are to contribute significantly to the opening weeks of the season.
