Liverpool have reportedly seen an approach for Arsenal striker Joel Campbell rejected according to Goal.com.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has been looking to bring in further firepower to make up for the loss of Luis Suarez and having seen a move for QPR’s Loic Remy collapse the Northern Irishman had seemingly hoped to bring in Costa Rican international Campbell.

The 22 year old has been ushered into the Arsenal first team squad following three seasons out on loan and he will battle Olivier Giroud, Yaya Sanogo and new signing Alexis Sanchez for a starting spot at the Emirates Stadium.

Campbell impressed at Olympiakos last term, helping the Athens based side to a domestic title triumph, before impressing at the World Cup finals.

Rodgers is also continuing to chase former Chelsea man Samuel Eto’o who is a free agent though his wage demands could prove an obstacle.

Liverpool have brought in Rickie Lambert to help support Daniel Sturridge up front but could well do with another addition before the transfer window slams shut.
