Southampton have pulled off a late transfer window deal, with the Saints confirming the signing of winger Sadio Mané from Austrian Bundesliga outfit Red Bull Salzburg for an undisclosed fee.

The 22 year-old has signed a four-year deal at St. Mary’s and follows Atletico Madrid’s Belgian international defender Toby Alderweireld in joining the club right at the end of the 2014 summer transfer window.

Mané has enjoyed an incredibly successful two years with perennial Austrian champions Salzburg since signing from French club Metz, averaging more than a goal every two games for the club during his 86 league appearances for them.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman will be hoping that Mané can replicate this form during his time in the Premier League, as he looks to build on a solid start to the season that saw them pick up their first league won at the weekend, as Morgan Schneiderlin scored twice in a 3-1 victory at West Ham United.

The signing will top off a thoroughly satisfactory deadline day for Koeman and his club, who have captured experienced international Alderweireld whilst also keeping hold of prized assets Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez, both of whom had been linked with moves away.
