Striker close to return after six months out.
Aston Villa could receive a major boost this weekend with the news that star striker Christian Benteke is nearing a return from a six-month injury layoff, according to manager Paul Lambert.
The club’s official Twitter page tweeted that Lambert hoped to include the Belgian international as part of his squad for this weekend’s Premier League match against Manchester City.

The 23-year-old had been in superb form for the Villains prior to his injury, a ruptured achilles tendon picked up in April, scoring 34 goals in 67 appearances for the club to establish himself as one of the deadliest centre-forwards in the Premier League.
Benteke may take some time to return to his best form, but could still be a great addition to the Villa squad in this big game, as they hope to continue their strong start to the season after a difficult recent run that has seen them lose big games to Arsenal and Chelsea.
Lambet is set to assess Benteke’s fitness one final time on Friday before making a decision on whether or not to include him in his squad this weekend.
