The French midfielder joined Southampton at the age of 18 while they were in League 1, and so surprisingly qualifies as homegrown in the same way that Fabregas does. Buying the energetic central midfielder would also release Fabregas to play further forward in Chelsea’s formation; but prising him away from the South coast won’t come cheap. Tottenham were told last summer that they would have to pay more than the £27m Manchester United spent on Luke Shaw to secure the Frenchman’s signing.
