Liverpool bought the Belgian this summer after a superb World Cup. He was immediately shipped out on loan to his old club Lille where he has been performing excellently.
His international teammate Kompany believes that the 19-year-old has a bright future ahead of him, and he could become a key player for Liverpool in seasons to come.
“He is very gifted and talented,” Kompany said.
“Technically, he’s a monster.
“More importantly, he is an outstanding worker in training. I see him working like crazy.
“If he continues in this way, in a few years he will be among the five or ten best strikers in the world.”
Origi has made seven appearances for Lille this season and scored three goals in the league. He also started ahead of Everton’s Romelu Lukaku in Belgium’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra on Friday, scoring one and assisting another in the side’s 6-0 demolition of the minnows.
Liverpool probably could have used a player of Origi’s quality this season, but they deal prevented them from bringing him in straight away, forcing them instead to return him back to Lille for the moment.
