The ex-England international, who now hosts Match of the Day, was delighted with Wilshere’s display in this hard-fought 1-0 away win, saying that the 22-year-old is finally blossoming into the talent he’d promised to be as a youngster.
Wilshere has come in for some criticism recently, but may now finally be showing some improvement, which has not gone unrecognised, even by a former Tottenham player.
Great to see @JackWilshere blossoming into the footballer many of us thought he’d become. Comfortably England’s best player today, I felt.

This view was clearly not popular, however, but Lineker hit back at angry fans by insisting he stands by his opinion.
Lots of replies from those who’ve played a few games of FIFA and therefore are better qualified to opine. Have your view, but allow me mine.
