Blues target nears bumper new agreement to stay at Villa Park.
Chelsea look set to miss out on one of their top targets for the new year as Aston Villa youngster Jack Grealish closes in on a new £20,000-per-week deal to stay at the club, the Telegraph reports.
The news comes after the highly-rated midfielder joined Stellar Group, the football agency which represents Gareth Bale and Ashley Cole.
The 19-year-old has been tipped as one of the Premier League’s brightest talents, and it is thought that the new deal could be signed and sealed within the next 48 hours.
Grealish will likely sign a four-year deal worth around £20,000-per-week, thus ending speculation linking him with a move to either Chelsea or Manchester City, both of whom had held an interest in stealing him away from Villa Park.
Chelsea had identified him as a potential target and were encouraged by his contract situation, with his current £2,000-a-week deal expiring at the end of this season.
But talks are believed to have progressed well over the past 24 hours and he will likely put pen-to-paper before the weekend.
