Chelsea Winger Andre Schurrle Adds To Germany Injury Crisis

In the wake of their loss to Poland, Germany have been hit by yet more bad injury news.

Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle is the latest casualty of the bug sweeping Germany’s camp, with midfielder Cristoph Kramer already ruled out with flu.

According to the Mail, the Chelsea player has already left the team’s hotel in Essen, in order to prevent the virus spreading further.

Schurrle joins a list of unavailable players which includes Mesut Ozil, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marco Reus and Sami Khedira.

With the international retirements of Miroslav Klose, Per Mertesacker and Philip Lahm, Germany’s squad is now minus many of the players who made them World Cup champions.

The squad has plenty of depth however, and young players like Emre Can, Andre Rudiger and Bernd Leno are all ready to fill in for the missing players.

Germany are hoping to bounce back from a shock defeat to neighbours Poland, who somehow won despite a slew of German chances. The Republic of Ireland will be hoping that the Germans’ finishing is equally sloppy tonight.

Schurrle will also likely be unavailable for Chelsea this weekend. The German has yet to win a certain starting spot under Mourinho – his battle with Willian for the right sided attacker is the last uncertain place in Jose’s first XI.
