Arsenal Striker Could Be On His Way To Serie A, Italian Insider Confirms

Arsenal’s Joel Campbell, who starred for Costa Rica at the World Cup, has been linked with an exit from the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal striker Joel Campbell has been linked with Inter Milan by legendary Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio.

The first wave of speculation about the Costa Rican’s future arrived two weeks ago, with Italian paper Corriere dello Sport suggesting that Inter were interested in Campbell and clubmate Lukas Podolski.

This was denied by Arsenal officials, but the well-informed Di Marzio has now posted on his website confirming that Campbell is a target for Walter Mazzari’s Inter.

The striker has been at Arsenal since 2011, but has only made two appearances for the club. Since his arrival, work permit issues have forced him to go on loan to get games, and the 22-year-old has played full seasons at Lorient, Betis and Olympiacos.

With his work permit now in place, Campbell has been able to stay at Arsenal and try to force his way into the first team.

However the arrival of Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez have pushed the youngster down the roster, and a permanent move looks to be his best option in the long term.

Inter are struggling this season, and are keen to bring in some new faces in January. The speedy Campbell would seem a perfect fit for the Milan side who are desperately lacking a spark up front. According to Di Marzio World Cup star was keen on a move to Inter’s rivals AC Milan this summer, but Arsene Wenger blocked the transfer, presumably before acquiring Danny Welbeck late in the window.
