Spurs linked with smart January transfer move.

Tottenham Hotspur could be lining up a surprise move to bring former Chelsea striker Demba Ba back to the Premier League in the January transfer window, according to talkSPORT.

West Ham United and Newcastle United are also looking at the Senegal international, who is currently with Turkish side Besiktas after quitting Stamford Bridge in a £4.7m move during the summer.

However, despite only just joining the club, it is thought that Ba could be available this winter and set for a return to England, where he has previously enjoyed plenty of success, particularly in his spell with Newcastle.

Tottenham could do with new signings upfront after some continued poor form from the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado, and the experienced centre-forward has now emerged as a possible target.

It is claimed that Besiktas would want around £9.4m for the 29-year-old, which seems a reasonable price for a player with a proven scoring record at the top level of the English game.

A number of other big names have been linked with Spurs in recent times, but Ba may be the most realistic target for the north London club at the present moment.
