The German has only made a handful of appearances this term and has indicated he could move on in January – should that situation not change.
He was an unused substitute during last weekend’s surprise defeat to Swansea in the Premier League, but was given a chance to impress with the national team during their 4-0 victory over Gibraltar on Friday night.
And after the game Podolski bemoaned his situation in north London to the waiting German press.
“I’ve spent the last four months making brief appearances. I’ve had to wrap myself up warm in my winter coat with my hat and scarf on to watch the others playing,” he said.
“I would rather show Arsenal what I am capable if, but this chance to show what I can do is not being given to me.
“I want to play football for many years to come so am I meant just to say everything is fine and sit my contract out?”
